I’ll recalculate it one day to check my figures but, taking the frequency of the tides and progressively doubling that frequency to raise it an octave, I worked out that the resulting ”note” would be just slightly flat of B flat. So it’s not as though the tide were truly silent, it’s just that it’s below the threshold of our hearing. And other more clamorous sounds drown it out too.

    1. Just wanted to add that I find this comment so interesting because I feel that music and painting have such an affinity. It has set off a whole new train of thought in respect to what I have been doing here and how it has affected my work. Thanks very much Marmoset!
