A Rural Idyll: Dodnash Priory

The Priory was built in 1188  by the Augustinians and was demolished centuries ago.  All that remains is a lump of masonry in one of the fields.  A series of hot summers culminating in 1999 revealed the outline of the foundations in the grass. A footpath runs through the middle.

Transcribed from my notebook:

The past revealed as shadows on the grass
A stain in the earth
A remnant
Residue
Scarring
A footpath runs through the middle

A completely masculine life?  Or maybe it was a nunnery?  I think a priory can be either and have a prior or a prioress.  Will investigate.
